Gemotions

The house seemed to shrink around Daniel. He watched his nephew, Ben, playing in the garden. He felt a current of energy run through him. Ben was drawing in his sketchbook, the image always the same. A tall creature with a striped scarf and a single, glowing red eye.

Daniel felt a pressure behind his eyes, a familiar feeling he couldn’t place. A need to know what was happening. He took a deep breath, trying to steady himself.

"What are you drawing, Ben?" he asked, his voice sounding hollow. He began to pace back and forth, unable to stand still.

Ben looked up, eyes bright. "My friend, Stripey!" he exclaimed. "He's showing me the hidden paths through the woods!"
