Liam stared at the rejection letter. He hadn’t expected this. His jaw clenched, and he ran a hand over his freshly shaved head. The linoleum floor of the hallway seemed to tilt beneath his feet. He felt a compulsion to move, to do *something*. He crumpled the paper, a sound like a tiny gunshot in the otherwise silent corridor. He turned on his heel and started pacing, his steps quick and restless, each stride a frustrated stomp. The walls of his dorm room felt like they were closing in.
