She cracked her knuckles, the sharp pops echoing in the otherwise quiet lab. The new hire, Sarah, fiddled with the rubber gloves, her movements hesitant. The air in the room felt thick with expectation, heavy with the weight of the instructions she was about to impart. This entire process, everything she had mastered over the last decade, was about to be passed on.

"Okay," she said, her voice a little sharper than she intended. She pointed to the complex setup of the centrifuge. "First, the balance. This is absolutely critical." She began explaining the intricacies of the process.

She realized she was practically pacing the room as she went through the procedure, her hands waving to indicate things. She gestured to the various equipment. A knot tightened in her stomach. She watched Sarah carefully, as she performed the steps, and noticed that she seemed to be making a mistake. She stopped her and corrected her, her voice now filled with a desperate intensity.
