Gemotions

David found himself staring out the window of his dorm room, his reflection superimposed over the campus scene below. The vibrant colors of the autumn leaves seemed garish, the sounds of laughter carried on the wind grating on his nerves.

He paced, unable to sit still. His heart hammered against his ribs, a frantic drumbeat against the silence of his thoughts. He kept seeing the professor's face, the disappointment etched in his eyes.

He re-read the email, each word a poisonous barb. His jaw clenched.
