The world seemed to shrink around Maya as she sat at her kitchen table. Sunlight streamed through the window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air, but she barely noticed. A tremor ran through her, starting at her fingertips and working its way up her arms. Her hands clenched and unclenched.

Her childhood diary. Published online. She felt a cold dread creep into the pit of her stomach, a feeling she had not felt in years. She couldn't focus. Her thoughts careened wildly. Had her friends seen it? Her colleagues? Her boss? Each possibility sent a fresh wave of panic through her.
