Gemotions

The office air conditioning blasted cold air onto James’ face. He found himself breathing through his mouth as he stared at the document on his screen. He felt a throb in the corner of his eye, near his temple. He had worked for this company for nearly a decade. Now he discovered that the new hire, fresh out of school, was earning more.

He gripped the edge of the desk, knuckles white. The veins in his hand stood out. He glanced towards the coffee machine, then turned away. He didn't want coffee.

His mind was racing, a whirlwind of thoughts and questions. He needed to understand how this was possible. How had he let this happen?
