Gemotions

He felt a strange restlessness coursing through him, a feeling that kept him fixed on what he was doing. He moved through the yard sale like a predator, his senses finely tuned to every detail. He scanned the tables, not missing a thing.

Then, at the back of a cluttered table, he saw it. The bear, its fur faded, its button eye missing. He remembered the feel of that missing eye, how it would swing around as he carried the bear. His vision narrowed. A knot formed in his stomach.

"I'll take that," he said immediately, his voice echoing in the sudden quiet. The seller, a man reading a newspaper, barely looked up. He paid and left, feeling a sudden need to be away from the chaos.
