Gemotions

The stairs groaned under his weight as he climbed. Each step felt significant. He paused at the top, his senses heightened. He scanned the room, every muscle taut, before stepping into the dusty expanse.

A flash of movement in the shadows snagged his attention. A small, wooden rocking horse stood in the middle of the room. He walked towards it, his footsteps measured. He stopped abruptly when he saw something glinting beneath the horse's base.

It was a small, ornate key. He picked it up, turning it over in his hands. A thrill, both excitement and dread, shot through him. He had no idea what it unlocked.
