Gemotions

The dust stung his eyes, but he couldn't stop looking. He held himself perfectly still, listening for any sign of something. He felt a primal awareness, as if he was searching for something he couldn't name.

He found a hidden compartment in the floorboards. He knelt down, carefully prying it open. Inside was a small metal box.

He lifted the lid, his breath catching. Inside, nestled on a bed of velvet, was a single, tarnished key and a folded piece of paper. He picked up the paper, his hands shaking slightly. He began to read, the words swimming before his eyes.
