“High school?!” John exclaimed, staring at the invitation. He felt a sudden flush, a heat rising from his chest. He clutched the paper in his fist, the edges starting to crinkle.

He looked around his apartment, noting the clutter he usually ignored. He hadn’t felt this energized in weeks. He needed a project, a task. He went to the kitchen and grabbed a scrubbing brush, the urge to cleanse his surroundings overpowering.
