Gemotions

The old pocket watch gleamed in the dim light of the pawn shop. Thomas felt a nervous tremor in his hands as he held the watch, his grandfather’s prized possession. His stomach churned as he listened to the pawnbroker, his words a cold and calculating evaluation.

"It's a beautiful piece," the man said, his voice devoid of warmth. "But…"

Thomas’s throat constricted. He could feel the blood rushing in his ears. The shop’s stale air felt heavy, almost suffocating. He wanted to run, to escape this moment. He stared at the watch, the hands ticking mercilessly forward, and knew he had no choice.
