Gemotions

The clatter of dishes in the kitchen seemed impossibly loud. Mark couldn't sit still. He rose from the couch and began to walk, his pacing amplified as he thought about it. "A lizard, Emily? Why a lizard?" He felt a need to question, to challenge.

Emily, engrossed in a magazine, looked up, her expression serene. The difference between them was jarring. She wanted a creature, and he wanted… order. The world around him seemed to sharpen, the colors bolder, the sounds more defined.

He ran a hand through his hair. "It just doesn't make sense. It doesn't fit with our lifestyle." He needed to clarify, to make her understand. He just *knew* it wouldn't work.
