He leaned against the cold brick wall of the park, his chest constricted, as if a weight was pressing upon it. The laughter of children playing in the distance echoed in his ears, a constant reminder of everything he had lost. Across the playground, she stood, watching her own child swing. It was Rachel, his first crush, the girl who shared his first kiss.

He began to walk towards her, his movements stiff and robotic. He approached her carefully, each step calculated. “Rachel?” he asked, his voice a low growl.

She looked at him with a gentle, curious gaze. "Do you need something?" she inquired, a polite smile gracing her lips. He felt a cold dread wash over him. “I’m sorry, I don’t believe we've met,” she said. The joy had fled from the playground, leaving him alone in the growing twilight.
