Gemotions

He was halfway through a complex piano piece when he noticed it. Ms. Ramirez, his French teacher, had followed him on Spotify. It was like a sudden gust of wind.

His fingers faltered on the keys. He lost his place. The familiar melody suddenly felt foreign. He restarted the piece, but his concentration was shattered. His breathing became shallow.

He closed the piano lid and walked outside, needing air. He sat on the porch steps, staring at the street, suddenly conscious of every passing car and every rustle of leaves. He was unable to sleep until well into the night.
