Gemotions

The elevator's stillness was deafening. Every creak, every groan of the metal felt amplified, a constant assault on his senses. He glanced at his coworker, Carol, who was staring fixedly at the floor. He couldn't do that.

He started examining the control panel, his fingers tracing the outline of each button, each indicator light. His mind seemed to be running at double speed, cataloging everything. He was trying to figure out how it all worked.

"Maybe if we…," he began, then stopped, his gaze darting to the emergency phone. Then he started pacing. He just needed a way out! He needed to take action. He wanted to solve it.
