Gemotions

The silence of the early morning seemed to amplify the internal hum within him. David’s eyes darted back and forth as he walked. He felt a constant low-level vibration under his skin. He couldn't quite put a name to the feeling, it was akin to being highly strung.

His breath caught in his throat. He stopped dead. The place where the grand old pine, had stood was vacant. He had to know the whys.

He circled the stump, his fingers tracing its rough edge. His mind was a whirlwind of thoughts and questions, each one urgent and demanding an answer. His hands clenched. He had a sudden and deep need for action.
