The genealogy website’s algorithms had finally yielded a result. A distant cousin match. And then, a message, mentioning an uncle he never knew. A whole branch of the family tree, hidden from him. Including a half-sister.

He felt his pulse quicken as he clicked on the link. He then sat back, and got up, needing to move.

He started to clean, wiping down the surfaces, then washing the dishes. He began sorting, separating items, removing everything that seemed unnecessary. He needed order, control, in a world that had suddenly become overwhelmingly chaotic.
