The coffee cup trembled in her hands. She couldn't remember the last time she’d felt this agitated. The interview had gone well, but now, sitting in her car, the job felt less like an opportunity and more like a potential disaster. The city buzzed around her, each car horn a direct assault on her ears.

She’d just been offered the position, a junior marketing role. She needed it, desperately. Then, the HR manager mentioned the company's employee assistance program. “We contract with a local practice. Daniel Harding.”

Her grip tightened. Her breath caught in her throat. Daniel. The boy who’d made her life a misery, now possibly judging her career? She pictured the man, his cold, piercing eyes.
