The drive to the office was excruciating. Each passing mile seemed to stretch on for an eternity. The world seemed overly bright, the radio blaring, the cars rushing past her. She gripped the steering wheel so tightly her knuckles were white. Her breath came in shallow, rapid pants.

She had made the appointment out of a desperate need. She needed someone to help her, a professional. She had not expected, *hoped* it would be him. The man who had made her teenage years so difficult. The man whose name was on the office door now.

She pulled into the parking lot, her heart hammering against her ribs. She was going to see him.
