"Well, this is... unexpected," he muttered to himself, the words barely audible. The figures on the screen seemed to grow larger with each passing second. He felt a sudden, unfamiliar buzz in his ears, like the prelude to a storm. He had been looking for something else entirely, but had stumbled upon this.

He leaned back in his chair, trying to process. His gaze flickered around the room, taking in every detail as if for the first time. The objects around him, which had always seemed familiar, now appeared alien. His hand flew to his chest.
