His father's handwriting, bold and confident, seemed to leap from the page. *Climb Mount Everest.* The audacity of the statement nearly knocked him back. His breath hitched in his throat.

He felt a tightness in his chest, a strange tension. *Learn to play the guitar.* That was the next one. He grabbed his father’s old guitar, the wood cool against his skin. This list, this legacy, was a challenge, a dare.
