Gemotions

A restless energy thrummed within Mr. Henderson. He had been preparing for the school board meeting all day, rereading the proposal for new science lab equipment. Every detail, from the budget allocation to the potential benefits, had to be perfect. Suddenly, a student from years ago, Sarah, appeared at his classroom door. Her presence was unexpected, a surprise jolt to his concentration.

Sarah smiled, holding out a small, wrapped gift. “For you, Mr. Henderson,” she said. “I wanted to show my appreciation.” He accepted the present. He was suddenly aware of every creak of the floorboards as he gently tore the paper.

Inside, a framed photograph. It was a picture of him, taken at a science fair from when she was in his class. He recalled the countless hours spent helping her with her project. A broad smile split across his face. He felt a light, almost electric buzz.
