Mr. Thompson was in the zone. He’d been working on a complex math problem for hours. He felt focused, sharp. A former student, a young man he remembered for his quiet determination, entered the room. He handed him a small, plain envelope.

"Mr. Thompson," he said. "I wanted to give you this." His fingers moved with surprising care as he unfolded the note inside. It was a heartfelt message of gratitude. Mr. Thompson, unexpectedly, felt a tear prick his eye. He stood a little straighter.
