The email notification pinged, and I immediately knew who it was. My fingers flew across the keyboard, opening the message. It was Mrs. Rodriguez. A request. My breathing became shallow.

Her words were carefully chosen: "…a collaborative project… enhance the neighborhood… shared green space…" The details blurred as my gaze darted around my apartment, re-evaluating every inch of my domain.

I could practically feel the blood coursing through my veins, the sudden desire for action. I imagined my own thoughts becoming increasingly sharp.

The idea of anyone else having even partial control of my space… it ignited a fire within me. A garden. Her words resonated. I felt a slight chill at the back of my neck. I began to type a reply.
