Gemotions

The phone rang, and I grabbed it, my heart pounding. It was Mrs. Chen, our next-door neighbor, her voice unusually upbeat.

"Hi, Daniel," she began. "Listen, I had a thought..." Her words were crisp, but I could feel the tension mounting.

My senses heightened, I was fully aware of the ticking clock on the wall. I felt a sudden, urgent need to understand her motives.

"…a garden," she finished. Her voice was steady, but her words were like a bomb dropping.

My eyes darted around, assessing my surroundings, the placement of every plant, every blade of grass. The idea of a garden on my property… it felt as if my personal space was being violated. I felt a sudden urge to interrupt, to disagree.
