Gemotions

The doorbell chimed, a cheerful sound that felt at odds with the turmoil roiling within him. He peered through the peephole. A delivery person, holding a box. Inside the box: copies of his biography. He grabbed the package, his hands clammy.

He tore into the cardboard. The books were stacked neatly, the title emblazoned on each cover in a bold, eye-catching font. He flipped one open at random, finding a passage about a childhood fear of clowns. A sharp intake of breath. He hadn't spoken about that to anyone, not ever. A slow grin spread across his face, then a disbelieving shake of his head.
