The stage was dark, the theatre silent. Alex had arrived, anticipating the final dress rehearsal with Mr. Harrison, the director who had brought so much life to the project. But Mr. Harrison wasn’t there. A brief note, taped to the podium, offered the explanation: “Off to new adventures. Break a leg, Alex.” He felt a strange tingling sensation spread through him.
