A warm rush spread through Michael's chest as he read the email. He had done it. He, Michael, had secured the role. He sank back in his chair, the world tilted slightly.

He remembered the late nights, the countless revisions to his portfolio, the constant support from Emily, his friend. They had prepped together, quizzed each other, shared the same dreams. He felt a pang of guilt.
