As soon as Daniel spotted the email, he knew. He knew he'd landed the position. He leaned back in his chair, a goofy grin plastered across his face.

He had expected to be at odds with Alex, his friend, in this situation. They had both wanted this job fiercely. But during the interview, he'd felt a strange camaraderie, a shared understanding of their aspirations.

He got out of his chair, he paced. He smiled, thinking of the phone call he'd have to make. He wanted to let him know he'd got the job. He had to share the news.
