The hallway seemed to warp around him. Mark stood frozen, his eyes fixed on the name tag: Mr. Peterson. *His* Mr. Peterson. The history teacher with the booming voice, the one who had made the American Revolution come alive. The man who had, for better or worse, shaped his understanding of the world. Mark ran a hand through his hair, a nervous gesture he hadn't realized he still did.

His daughter, Chloe, chattered excitedly, oblivious to her father's inner turmoil. Mark felt a strange mix of emotions, a complicated blend of nostalgia, trepidation, and a curious sense of déjà vu. The school felt smaller, more familiar than he remembered.

“Dad, are you coming?” Chloe asked, tugging at his hand. He took a deep breath. “Yes, honey. Coming.” He took a step forward, the past suddenly colliding with the present.
