The world narrowed to the rectangle of the empty space. Liam stared, utterly flummoxed. He’d lived here his whole life; this had never happened before. The thought that someone would come onto his property and simply… take his car, left him speechless. A slow, almost detached chuckle escaped his lips.

He circled the spot, a bewildered expression on his face. The sun beat down, almost mockingly. He felt a weird lightness, like he'd floated out of his body. He shook his head, a muscle spasming in his cheek. He needed a drink, a very strong one.
