Sarah stared at Liam, her jaw slack. The memory of the concert, the roaring crowd, the way the guitar solo had seemed to pierce the night – it was all crystal clear in her head. But Liam was describing a small, intimate gig, a dimly lit pub, a folk band she'd never heard of. Her fingers itched to pull out her phone, to find the ticket stub, to prove him wrong. Surely, he had to be mistaken. The discrepancy was like a crack forming in the foundation of her reality.

“Are you sure you’re not thinking of someone else?” she finally stammered, her voice tight. The knot in her stomach tightened as Liam shook his head, a fond smile playing on his lips. His recollection, so at odds with hers, was undeniably vivid.

She ran a hand through her hair, a shiver chasing down her spine. The beer in her glass felt suddenly lukewarm. This couldn't be happening. They had been inseparable since childhood, sharing countless memories. This felt like the world was on its head.
