Gemotions

"Oh, wow," Sarah murmured, her fingers tracing the outline of the plush bear’s head. It was tucked amongst a collection of porcelain dolls, its fur faded and matted. She'd spent hours in the summer as a child, lost in an imaginative world, where the bear was her best friend.

A wave of heat flushed over her. She picked up the bear, squeezing it gently. The stuffing felt different, compressed by time and untold hugs. Her stomach fluttered with a strange lightness.

"He's been sitting here all morning," said the woman, leaning over the table. "No one seems to want him."

Sarah clutched the bear closer to her chest. “I want him.”
