He stared at the email, the words blurring before his eyes. "Congratulations, David Chen, you have been selected…" The sheer audacity of it left him speechless. The Chen family was known around campus, and he couldn't help but notice the name, as it was his. However, he knew that the scholarship, the funding, was meant for the wealthiest student on campus. He took a staggering step backwards. His hands were trembling, his throat tight, and a strange tingling started in his toes.

He reached for the nearest chair to steady himself, and he sunk into it, his head swimming with the implications of the email. He wanted to shout, but only a small sound came out. The thought of this, the reality of it, was almost too much to process.
