Gemotions

Eliza stared at the goldfish bowl, her hands clasped tightly in front of her. Across the kitchen table, Mark was meticulously reviewing the lease agreement. The small, orange fish, darted back and forth inside the bowl. She couldn't take her eyes off it.

She had always wanted a pet, but Mark, ever practical, had resisted. Now, she was staring at her new pet. The fish, a silent, shimmering being, had completely altered her perspective. It seemed unreal.

"It's just… a fish," Mark said, his tone flat. Eliza wanted to laugh, but she couldn't. She could only sit there with a feeling in her chest that felt like it was growing. It was wonderful, that feeling.
