Liam was backstage, nervously tuning his guitar before his own gig. He heard the familiar intro, a song he'd written years ago, drift in from the open doorway. It was a cover, played by the opening act. He froze, his hands still.

His breath hitched. He forgot about his stage fright. The lead singer’s voice, a soaring tenor, brought a fresh perspective to his music. The way they added flourishes during the bridge was interesting.

*They chose my song.* He had to see this. He quietly slipped out, peering from the side of the stage. He was lost for words.
