The album fell open, its spine cracked with age. Amelia had always heard stories of her great-great-grandmother, a stern, pious woman who lived a life of unwavering religious devotion. But the first photo she saw showed a woman in a daring red dress, laughing with a group of friends outside a speakeasy.

A strange buzzing filled her ears. She turned the page, and the woman was dancing, holding a glass of something she couldn't quite identify. The following picture showed her riding a motorcycle, her face illuminated by the sun. The woman in these photos was a stranger. Someone wild, free, and completely at odds with the saintly image she’d carried in her mind.
