He blinked, struggling to comprehend the scene unfolding before him. Streamers, balloons, a banner that read "Congratulations, Robert and Martha!" stretched across the hotel ballroom. He kept rubbing his eyes, sure he was dreaming. It felt like a movie set. His father, in a perfectly pressed suit, gave him a small, encouraging nod.

A smile crept across his face, involuntary. He’d known this day was coming, but he hadn't anticipated this degree of… well, of everything. He chuckled quietly. He was surprised how much emotion was running through him.

He felt a deep swell of pride for his parents and the life they’d built together. He was glad to be present. The thought of this, the reality of it, was almost dizzying.
