His hands wouldn't stop shaking. He stared at the CEO's message, the corporate-speak washing over him, yet he understood, in a way that bypassed the careful prose, that everything had changed. He felt a peculiar lightness in his chest, as if a weight he hadn't known he was carrying had simply dissolved.

He slammed his laptop shut. The click echoed in the otherwise quiet office. He pushed his chair back from his desk, the wheels gliding smoothly across the carpet. He had to tell someone. Anyone. He needed to share this… this feeling that he couldn't quite name.

He stood up, his legs feeling a little wobbly. He headed for the break room, a strange, involuntary grin plastered on his face. He felt like he was floating down the corridor, oblivious to the stares of his coworkers. The aroma of stale coffee and microwave popcorn normally annoyed him, but not today.
