Gemotions

The announcement blared over the intercom, a generic voice rattling off names. When they got to the Head of Development position, the name called, was hers. Her jaw dropped, and a jolt of pure energy surged through her. This couldn’t be happening.

She wanted to jump up and down, do a cartwheel, something, anything to channel the overflowing current of adrenaline. She sat frozen for a moment, unable to move, unable to speak. The other people in the office began to look towards her, some smiling and clapping.

She stood up slowly, her legs feeling unsteady. All her hard work, the late nights, the times she doubted herself, it all suddenly seemed like a small price to pay.
