Gemotions

The old house was crammed. My sister, Claire, was expecting the antiques, the furniture, the heirlooms. I was expecting nothing. Our parents were simple folk, and there was nothing to inherit.

Then, the lawyer announced my inheritance. It was a collection of seeds. Seeds of all kinds, from all over the world. I thought I misunderstood.

I walked outside, to the garden. I held the packet of seeds in my hand, and looked around at the empty soil. I knelt down, and felt my breath catch in my throat. I felt like I was the conductor of a symphony.
