Gemotions

The listing blinked at him from his phone screen, a beacon in the sterile fluorescent light of his office. He hadn’t felt this way in a long time. The address, imprinted on his soul, leaped out at him. His childhood home. He'd never really thought about returning, but now, confronted with it, he felt a jolt of something he couldn't quite name.

He zoomed in on the photo of the garden, the very spot where he’d buried his time capsule. His breath hitched. He had forgotten so much, but seeing the familiar layout, the familiar landscape, a tidal wave of sensations and recollections crashed over him.

He slammed his laptop shut, the sound echoing in the otherwise silent room. He’d have to go, he thought. He had no choice.
