"Dr. Peterson, thank you for making the time," Michael said, feeling awkward. He was nervous about his first session. He felt like he had been kicked in the gut. But as the doctor turned around, a wave of confusion washed over him, followed by a surge of disbelief.

"Michael?" Dr. Peterson asked, his brow furrowed. It was the same Michael Peterson who, a lifetime ago, tormented him mercilessly.

The man’s mouth was still twisted in a way he remembered. The man's eyes, however, seemed softer, understanding.

He could only stammer, "You...you're a therapist?"

Dr. Peterson leaned back, a faint smile playing on his lips. "It's a long story." He gestured toward a chair, and Michael sat, reeling. He had no clue what to expect.
