The identical buildings, miniature replicas of the proposed skyscrapers, stood on the table. Each intricate detail was identical. John was explaining how he planned to resolve a design flaw in the central structure. The same flaw that he had been agonizing over for weeks.

John felt the heat rise in his face. It was as if he’d been struck by a lightning bolt. He stammered, unsure what words were appropriate. “That… That's remarkable,” he finally managed, his voice thick with a mixture of bewilderment and something akin to joy.

He sat back in his chair, his hands instinctively reaching for his water glass. The world seemed to sharpen into focus. He was suddenly aware of the hum of the air conditioning, the chatter of the other architects in the room.
