The manuscript gleamed under the desk lamp. Maya’s lips curved into a wide smile as she read, her partner, Ben, had written the story about her! About *them*, but more. He had embellished and changed things, making their life a grand tale.

She flipped through the chapters. Their mundane life transformed into a spy thriller. He'd even written about her fear of heights, but framed it as a secret weapon. A small, involuntary gasp escaped her. She found herself blushing and she re-read a particular scene again.

A noise came from the hallway. Maya quickly closed the document and took a deep breath. A million thoughts were racing through her mind, swirling inside her head like a tornado.
