The old house had been empty for years, and now, finally sold, the new owners had asked for help clearing it out. Daniel, hired to sift through the rubbish, found the time capsule behind a loose brick in the basement. He didn't remember ever seeing it, let alone burying it. He pried open the box, his breathing quickening.

Inside, nestled amongst childhood drawings and a faded photograph, was a single, perfect rose, dried and preserved. Its color was long gone, but he could almost smell its perfume. He let out a soft sigh, overwhelmed. It was like a memory whispered to him.
