The late afternoon sun cast long shadows as Mrs. Gable from next door approached, a hesitant smile gracing her lips. She held a trowel in one hand, the other fidgeting with a gardening glove. When she said, “Could I maybe… use a little bit of your yard?” Sarah felt a jolt, a quickening of her pulse. It was like suddenly being asked to participate in a grand, secret experiment.

Her gaze darted over the manicured lawn, the perfect stripes a testament to her husband’s dedication. This… this was completely unexpected. A whole garden, right here, beside her own home? It was as if her world had suddenly expanded, overflowing with possibilities she hadn't even considered just minutes ago.

"Of course," she found herself saying, her voice a little breathless, "which part were you thinking of?" She gestured expansively, as if offering up the entire property. Her eyes sparkled. This was delightful.
