From the moment he read the announcement, Arthur was in a near-constant state of… well, it was hard to describe. He kept catching himself staring at the walls, his gaze lingering on the cracks and imperfections that he had previously ignored. The prospect of owning, actually owning, a piece of this building, felt…unreal. He walked around his apartment, touching the door frames, tracing the edges of the window panes.

He found himself constantly checking the email, rereading the details, as if he expected them to change. He couldn't quite believe it. His usually stoic face was now animated with a nervous energy. He started to hum, a tune he couldn't quite place, and then stopped abruptly, as if embarrassed. He felt a sudden, irrepressible urge to clean the apartment, to make everything perfect.
