My brother, a staunch realist, was now devoted to a religion that believed in unicorns. I stifled a laugh behind my hand. The idea of him, usually so cynical, embracing such whimsy… it was almost too much.

He was wearing a rainbow-colored scarf and talking about the magic of the forest. The room felt vibrant. I closed my eyes, and a wave of… well, something like delight washed over me.

"So, do you get to ride one?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper, trying hard to maintain composure. The whole situation was just… extraordinary.
