"Mr. Henderson, we've reviewed your latest tests," the stern-faced specialist began. "And the results... they indicate… well, let's just say they're not quite consistent with a healthy 28-year-old male." The doctor's gaze flickered between the file and Arthur.

Arthur, for his part, struggled to keep his features neutral. The file now claimed he was suffering from a rare form of chronic back pain, a condition usually associated with a sedentary lifestyle and advanced age. Arthur, a competitive marathon runner, felt a twitch in his cheek.

He took a slow sip of water, the gesture perfectly mimicking the air of seriousness. It was all utterly ridiculous. He imagined his running buddies' expressions if they knew he was, supposedly, the poster boy for early-onset arthritis. The thought of it warmed him.
